Summary
Since August 2024 until March 31, 2025, I worked as IT Architect at Strukton. Introduced architecture-driven work practices, starting with the development of an Enterprise IT architecture aligned with the business, to be integrated with domain and solution architectures based on business processes according to BPMN 2.0. This resulted in the delivery of an enterprise IT architecture document. In the area of domain architecture, contributions were made to application integration. In addition, activities were performed focused on application rationalization, initiating projects for software refactoring, and introducing innovative software technologies, including graph databases.
From early 2019 until May 31, 2024, I was involved via IDC-Metri as a program and domain architect at ProRail for the GSM-R Fit for Service program and its subprojects: core relocation, GRI, and VR-2. These components together formed the entire program. The results achieved include: re-tendering of the GSM-R management and maintenance solution; successful migration of the management and maintenance solution from Mobirail to Nokia and Cellnex for the GSM-R network; implementation of a new GRI solution (telephony) for Traffic Control; and relocation of the GSM-R core and GRI environment from KPN data centers to those of ProRail. The VR-2 project, focused on the replacement of telecom masts, is currently still ongoing. After completing the GSM-R Fit for Service program, I also served as solution architect for the ERTMS program from October 1, 2023, until May 31, 2024.
Since 2008, I worked as a consultant at IDC-Metri. As an independent advisor I was benchmarking market conformity of managed services delivery of connectivity solutions for the corporate market, based on subject matter expertise. Also assisting corporate customers with tendering their global networks and acting as a sparring partner for suppliers of managed services on pricing; managed services including IT infrastructure, cyber security and cloud.
Before working at IDC-METRI, I co-founded a telecommunications startup with a partner. I also worked for PostNL and Digital Equipment Corporation (now part of Hewlett Packard Enterprise). Within these companies, I held consultancy and management positions focused on software engineering, information analysis, architecture, and innovative system integration projects.
